i'm only gonna break your heart music - break your heart • words - 320 • tagged - Eleanor, Star The sun was setting, but that didn't mean it was time to head home. In fact, students and civilians alike were beginning to make their way to the festival. Rides were starting up, lights were flickering on, and smells of different carnival food was wafting down the street. Looking to his side with a face he supposed was 'sexy,' James muttered, "You ready?" The girl standing beside him, Leah, was her name, nodded excitedly. Her grey-blue eyes reflected all of the lights that blinked and twinkled from the tents and rides.
Taking a step forward, James held out his hand as a signal for Leah to place her own in his. When their fingers entwined, the couple continued down the sidewalk and approached the festival. Of course, this was all a game to James, he really had no intentions of keeping her by his side for more than a few days. Maybe I'll even ditch her tonight? He chuckled to himself.
After a couple of minutes, the couple entered the carnival grounds. "Where should we go first?" James asked, leaning closer to his date for the night. She let out a tiny squeal and pointed to a haunted house. It looked pretty shabby, but of course it could be fun. Mockingly, James took a step aside and bowed to Leah, "I shall guard you with my life, my darling." Seeing her eyes light up, he took her hand once more and they entered the ride.
After several more rides, which added up to a total of about half an hour, James explained to his date that he needed to find something. After waiting for him to return, she realized that he wasn't going to come back for her.
At this point, James was wandering around the festival grounds, keeping an eye out for Eleanor. "Where is that girl...?" He muttered, letting out a sigh. "I thought she would come."

Usually El wasn't the type to dress up for these things. But she really needed to get that weapon, and she would do whatever it takes. Even if it meant having to play the "damsel in distress". She fastened her long blond hair into a high pony tail, leaving a few strands in front of her ears. She clipped back her bangs so a small poof was added, but it looked nice. While choosing an outfit she wondered about the multiple personalities she could play to win him in telling him about this weapon. She added a twist on what she normally wore; a jet black spaghetti-strapped tank-top, rising just a teeny bit above her belly button. Over it she wore a crop-top red and white Letterman jacket. Skin tight leather pants and shin-high boots. Eleanor walked over to her full-body mirror and inspected herself. She gave a lopsided grin "Damn, I would make one sexy con-artist." she breathed out as she looked at her body head to toe. With that comment she headed out the door. --- "Alright Ellie, you can't come off too desperate. I know you want that weapon, but you might scare him off. You just have to relax, and play whatever is thrown at you, and just pray to God you'll get that revolver. And for Lord's sake, no sass-mouth." Eleanor went over the plan over and over in her head. She decided to stop by and sit at a bar in the festival. Luckily, Death City wasn't so strict on age. She has had a couple of drinks, but she never got completely wasted. Maybe buzzed. But not that bad. Even though the bartender asked Eleanor if she wanted a drink, she calmly shook her head. Not tonight. She would have to be sober to get what she wanted. The young woman let out a sigh. She hated bright things, and this carnival was ticking her off already. It was too...up in your face. Let's not even mention the drunks in the corner. Her upper lip raised in disdain. Drunks never had jobs and were low lives. That's all there is to it. That boy better get here soon. All this effort for just one weapon. --- Word Count: 372 Notes: Her confidence cracks me up 8'D Music: Boyfriend-Big Time Rush They are at a carnival in the music video. i'm only gonna break your heart music - break your heart • words - 310 • tagged - Eleanor, Star James gave himself a smirk was he walked away from the spot where Leah would be sitting, alone, for the next half hour. What he did pleased him, even though it wasn't exactly something to be proud of. At this point, the boy didn't even feel any sort of longing for a long-term relationship with anyone.
After wandering around the festival grounds for quite some time, James finally came up to a small bar that had been set up on the outskirts of the carnival. His eyes only had to scan it for a few moments before he saw Eleanor. She had dressed up; something that he hadn't expected. With a shrug and a bit of surprise, he approached her. "Hey, you came. I was starting to think that you weren't gonna show up." He took a seat next to her, and without asking, ordered two drinks. When he received them, he slid one over to Eleanor. "Don't reject it, I already spent my money."
After taking a quick shot from the plastic cup, James sat it down on the table that had been set up. He looked to Eleanor, "I know you're excited about that weapon, but you know you didn't need to dress up, right? He's not gonna care." He grinned, turning back to his drink. "Besides, you don't even know who he is yet."
In the background, children could be heard crying out with excitement. There was much to do at the carnival. A lot of stalls had simple games, and if you won, you'd get a prize. They weren't really very good, as they usually included some kind of toy or stuffed animal. However, the carnies often set the activities up so that they were hard to win. James wasn't worried, though. He knew most of their tricks, as long as hiding some of his own.

She must have looked terribly lonely. A young woman in the corner of the bar. The bartender hovered over near her, drying off a shot cup. "So...who did it this time?" his gruffy voice carried over. El smiled a bit and shook her head. "No...no. It's not like that. Just waiting for...a business partner." she turned her head slightly just to see the person she wanted to see. Eleanor nodded in his direction as he sat next to her. Since the bartender was right there, he didn't need to wave him down. He ordered the both of them shots. "Don't reject it, I already spent my money." Even though she didn't plan on drinking, one shot couldn't hurt. El picked it up and swished it a bit before downing it. She didn't even wince as the strong liquid burned down her throat. Eleanor rested her elbow on the counter, leaning her cheek into her fist. The position made her face James, so she could listen to him drone about her dressing up. "I know you're excited about that weapon, but you know you didn't need to dress up, right? He's not gonna care. Besides, you don't even know who he is yet." she had a slight suspicion that...no. It couldn't be him. The thought quickly vanished. Eleanor smirked. "Oh shut up. I know you like what you see. Don't deny it. Anyways," her playful tone quickly turned serious. "Just by looking at you, you seem like a playboy. If I want something, I get it. And the only way to do that is by playing the game right. Since you appear like a jerk off, if I dressed normally you would get bored. And then you would find some lame-ass excuse and ditch me. I plan things out, Mr. Calahand." she jumped up from her seat, stopping at the edge of the bar. The meister dug her hands into her front pockets, only her thumbs peeking out. She nodded her head towards the park. i'm only gonna break your heart music - break your heart • words - 301 • tagged - Eleanor, Star A smile crawled across James' lips as Eleanor continued to speak. She was smart, strong-willed, too. When she finally stopped, he tilted his head to the side a bit. "Who ever said I was going to go after you?" He slid his empty hands into the pockets of his jeans, observing her face out of curiosity. Has she figured me out yet? He wondered.
When Eleanor stood, James did the same. "Of course." He replied, smirking. He started walking towards the sidewalk that weaved through the park. Looking over his shoulder, he saw the meister close behind him. "Well," he began, "This weapon is someone that you already know." James had decided prior to drag it out, just to play with the girl.
For a moment, James got lost in his own little world. He thought of how it would be to have a partner, if Eleanor accepted, that is. It sounded like something that he would definatly benefit from. But then again... What if I were to bring a girl over?
James brought himself back to reality and cleared his throat. "And he's a great guy." James went on, "Perfectly fitting for you." At that, he turned to face Eleanor, discontinuing the walk for a moment. He made a face that seemed to be exclusive to him, with softened eyes, head tilted only slightly to the side, and a small but beautiful smile. At least, he thought it was beautiful. "And," James started, "here is the man himself!"
There was a quick, but very noticeable flash of blue light. Not even a moment passed before Eleanor would see the shining white Magnum that was now sitting in her hand. It fitted almost perfectly. The revolver was small, but awfully powerful. "Well?" The voice seemed to echo through the weapon itself.

Eleanor walked slowly around the place, placing one foot in front of the other at a steady pace. When she looked up she noticed he was ahead of her. Slightly confused on how he was already in front of her so fast, she continued walking. "Well, this weapon is someone that you already know." El quirked an eyebrow. She didn't know any weapons that were revolvers. Well maybe she did, but she didn't take the time to ask. But in her pocket she handled her pocket knife. She brought it in case he tried to pull a fast one. She was about to whip it out; she just met the boy this afternoon! How does he know about who she has met? He was quiet for a few moments, and the suspense was eating at her. It was creepy too. "Are you alright?""And he's a great guy." he called out. The sudden noise made her jump a teeny bit, but she didn't stop. "Perfectly fitting for you." Eleanor scoffed. A perfect man for her would have to keep up with her. Yet the comment was interesting; still none the less creepy. She was also getting tired of waiting. Right before she was about to fling out her pocket knife, he turned around facing her. "And..." James paused a short while and gave a charming smile. The beginnings of her eyebrows crunched together, her lip curling up. "Why are you staring at me like that. Stop it, you're freaking me out.""Here is the man himself!" James flashed into a brilliant ball of bright blue light, until he was not seen. Eleanor felt weight drop into her right hand and she snapped her head at the hand. Placed in her palm, a shiny, Magnum .44 dazzled at her. She took a sharp breath in, almost slipping the gun out of her hand. She regained control over it, not being able to control the wide grin on her face. "You're a bloody Magnum!" she squealed, her accent quite noticeable. She lived in Death City for a few months, but she knew how much she stayed she wasn't going to lose her accent. "Hey...you said you were perfect for me. Let's test that." Eleanor spun around to eye a target that hung on a wall. It was used for a water gun game, but she had to try out the Magnum. She clenched the powerful gun, pushing on the trigger. The target exploded, but she knew she was a bit off. Nothing practice couldn't handle. The man working the booth yelled at her, but El calmly left five bucks on the table. "Well partner. What should we do now?" she cheekily grinned down at the gun. --- Word Count: 453 Notes: Let's go get Star! Music: the sound of my breathing.

not an ice beam, that's all johnny snow music - dr horrible soundtrack • words - 366 • tagged - Eleanor, Star The beam of soul wavelengths shot out of the gun at top speed, making James panic a bit. "Watch it! I wasn't ready! Besides, you can't just go shooting random-" He was cut off by the man yelling at Eleanor from across the counter. Sighing, James transformed back into his human form. As usual for a weapon, the transformations were effortless. It was just a brilliant flash of light and then something else standing in the place of what had been there a moment before.
James brushed his hair out of his face, taking a glance to the man working the booth. He was obviously annoyed, but took the money without saying another word. It'd be wise not to ask this girl for anything more. Since all this had happened after Eleanor asked a question, she was probably wondering why her partner hadn't replied yet. "Oh," James began, looking back to her. "since we're already here... Let's have some fun. Shall we?" His worry for the carny seemed to vanish as he pointed to a booth across a span of grass. "That looks exciting, huh?" He nudged Eleanor playfully. The sarcastic tone in his voice was heavy, but perhaps the game could be of some amusement.
Without waiting for a reply from Eleanor, James made his way over to the booth. Okay, so it wasn't really a booth. There were three rope ladders, side-by-side. They went up at a slight incline over an inflatable pad. The man working the game waved to the couple, "Want to try? All you gotta do is climb to the top and ring the bell!"
Nodding, James didn't even realize the trick to the game. The ends of the ladders all entwined to form a single rope, and any weight on the ladder itself would cause it to flip over. Handing the carny a dollar bill, James hopped up onto the ladder closest to him. He made the first few rungs without a problem. "This is too easy-!" He cried out, his taunt being silenced by the sudden flip of the ladder. The embarrassment forced him to stand and go back to Eleanor. "... Don't say anything." He muttered, fixing his hair.

Eleanor couldn't help but laugh. "You have to be ready for anything, James. What if I was shooting at a kishin egg? To be my partner, you have to be quick and on your heels." Even though she could tell he was a bit annoyed, Eleanor was at complete bliss. She just got her a weapon, plus one of the greatest guns there is out there, and a new punching bag. She looked over at James. That boy was a hot mess. But soon enough, she will have this boy wrapped around her finger. Since she was the meister, the weapon had to do anything she said. In El's world, she worked for no one. People worked for her. Every person she meets, she makes a plan for what role they play in her life. She never made a lot of friends, she was used to being alone. The only thing is that to be a better meister, she would have to become close to James. That was the downside. Even though she was nearing eighteen, the teen has never gotten close to anybody. Not even to her parents. There was this one boy, but she was eight at the time. And she was just a child. Her thoughts were knocked away when James bumped into her. All she heard was sarcasm, so she really hoped he didn't make fun of her while she was thinking, because she had nothing. Eleanor followed him to a game booth. She shook her head smiling. The game was made for children, but here a grown teenager was climbing up, only to be seen toppling down after the first few. She let out yet another hearty laugh. "How long has it been since I've laughed this much?" she tucked her hands underneath her arms. "Have I even laughed this much?" When he approached near her, she hid a chuckle. "I'll never bring this up again if you can win this game." She knew the exact game she had in mind. She spotted it on the way in. Without hesitating El grabbed his wrist and ran off, weaving through the flood of people. Only a few short moments later, she halted in front of a stand. It was easy enough for James to gain his redemption. Fish bowls lined under the tent filled with gold fish. All you had to do was to knock a ping pong ball into one of the balls, and you win the gold fish. "If you can at least get one ball in, I'll shut up. But, you will never hear the end of it." --- Word Count: 435 Notes: Flower's turn. Maybe. .___. We kinda took over....oops. The trip to the carnival had been a hassle. A van wasn't exactly the most comfortable means of travel for a goldfish in a plastic bag. The box that contained the plastic bags of goldfish moved a bit side to side with every turn. If water hadn't been inside the bags, this goldfish might have been pretty bruised by the time she arrived in the carnival. But, she was here and that was all that mattered to the muscular middle-aged man running the booth. "Step right up, folks and win yourself a goldfish! I'm sure the little ones would like a pet or two! COME ON! All you gotta do is land a ping pong ball into the bowl! Only a dollar per player! COME ON!" he shouted to the passerby. The human was being so loud, but that was okay, because the goldfish that had a star on her back didn't understand a single word he was saying.
In fact, the goldfish was so uninterested that she fell asleep. Goldfish sleep with their eyes open, so you couldn't really tell the difference if you happened to see a fish asleep. They just kind of float at the bottom of the bowl and don't do anything. That's exactly what Star was doing at the time. She was just sleeping, when a noise woke her up. She darted back and forth in the bowl a couple of times. What? What? When her panic settled down, she saw a white ball right next to her fishbowl. A small girl with brunette pigtails and thrown it with her father's help. She frowned. She seemed disappointed. "Sorry, little girl. Looks like you didn't win a fish. Come back later if you want, 'kay?" the man said with true disappointment in his voice. The girl and her father walked away from the booth and two blond humans stepped up to the booth. They were saying something as well, but the little fish wasn't paying attention.
Seeing that the ball hadn't done her any harm, the fish flapped her fins a couple times, hovering in the center of the bowl. There wasn't anything to eat here, so that was disappointing to her. Star choose to swim around the circumference of the bowl. Swimming was fun.

i'm only gonna break your heart music - break your heart • words - 320 • tagged - Eleanor, Star James stayed silent as he was led to the other booth. He bit his lower lip lightly, trying not to speak out against Eleanor. He didn't want to show her how embarrassed he really was. His usual stunts didn't involve carnival games. How could I shame myself so easily? I'm a failure!
The only sound that escaped his mouth was a sigh when they approached the booth. The man running it shouted out to them, even though it was clear that the team was already heading to the game. After a few moments, James looked over to Eleanor. "Fine. I will get one in." He had a determined tone in his voice. I can't let her do this to me.
James handed the middle-aged man a few dollars, and received three ping pong balls in return. He shot a dazzling smile to Eleanor. "Watch," he said, the confidence returning to his speech. The firt ball hit the side of the bowl, then proceeded to bounce down onto the grass. He swallowed, feeling worry start to creep into his head. The second hit the rim of the bowl, but somehow avoided going in. He didn't dare look to Eleanor, as she was probably trying to hold back her laugh. Finally, on his last throw, James made one in. His face lit up with total glee. "Yes!" he cried, jumping up with all too much enthusiasm, "I win!"
A moment later, James looked back to the carny. "I get a fish, right? 'Cause I want that one." He pointed to the little goldfish in the bowl that he had been throwing ping pong balls at. It had an odd little marking on its back, James thought that it even looked like a star. Truthfully, James didn't even want a fish. He was only interested in it because he assumed that owning one would annoy Eleanor. However, he didn't know that for sure.

Eleanor lifted her hand out towards the game, as a mocking invitation to James. It was all a game to her, but to James, she doubted that. His pride was seriously damaged from the last incident, and how funny would it be to see him fail. Her lips curled into a smirk when the first ball didn't make it in. When the second ball failed too, a small snort escaped. How could you lose at this game? "Looks like it's El to the rescue." Eleanor picked up a ball and was about to toss it in, but was stopped before James started cheering. Eleanor searched for the fishbowl he was aiming at. Right in the center, the white ping pong ball floated a long the top. She didn't believe it at first, but realizing that they were the only ones playing the game, she came to terms. James finally won a child's game. The beefy man that worked the stall shoved a water-filled plastic bag at Eleanor. Inside was the orange gold fish that swam around in the fish bowl. "W-What am I supposed to do with it?! I don't want a fish!"Eleanor hissed. If she was going to get a pet, it would have been a dog. And a fish was nothing compared to a man's best friend. Eleanor sighed as she hugged the bag close to her chest. "James, what am I supposed to do with this? I don't have food for it, I don't think I even have a fish bowl! Well...I think I do actually." When Eleanor moved into the apartment, some things were left behind in the towel closet. If she remembered correctly she might have seen a fish bowl in there. The meister pushed the bag at James. "Take it. I don't want it. I didn't win it anyways." --- Word Count: 307 Notes: Derp. Music: None

The loud noise of something hitting the fishbowl caused the goldfish to dart back and forth around the bowl. It was another ping pong ball. Realizing this quickly, the star-marked fish calmed down again. She hoped this wasn't going to be a regular thing. If that's why she was brought here, then she wanted to go back to the pet store. It was much calmer there. Well, except when the kids tapped on the glass, which was similar to what was going on now, but it was less common.
Another ping pong ball danced around the rim. The fish darted to the bottom of the bowl. Was it going to eat her? Apparently not, because it rolled off the top of the bowl and fell off of it. Feeling safe, she drifted back into the center of the bowl. As soon as she had done so, a 'plop' and a small splash caused her to freak out again. Something was attacking her! Why?! Why hadn't she been eaten yet?! She was inside a small bowl for human's--- Ow! The fish had smacked her head into the side of the glass bowl in her confusion. It hurt. If she could cry or tear up in pain, she would have.
Her bowl was lifted off of the ground. Oh Lord, what was happening now? The star-marked goldfish was fished out of the bowl with a little net after being cornered to one side of the bowl and she was transferred into a plastic bag. She hoped she didn't have to go back into that huge thing that had brought her here. That wasn't a very nice place either. The man handed the plastic bag over to the blond female human. "Come again!" he said with a grin as if he was truly happy that they had won her as a prize.
Pale hands wrapped around the plastic bag and the female was shouting. Why did humans have to be so loud? Where was she going now? Why couldn't she have just stayed in that fish tank at the pet store. The goldfish had no control over where she was going or who she was being taken by. She hoped that she would stop being moved around soon. It was irritating and confusing to be constantly moved around.

i'm only gonna break your heart music - break your heart • words - 308 • tagged - Eleanor, Star James laughed, taking the plastic bag carefully in his hands. "You're the one who wanted me to play the game." After a moment, he added, "And... Since we're gonna be living together from now on, it's your pet, too!" He leaned in closer, "Aren't you excited?" Again, there was obvious, but playful, sarcasm in the boy's voice. Behind James, a little girl and her mother were making their way up to the booth. Surprisingly, the girl got a ping pong ball into a bowl on her first try. It was probably just luck, but as James glanced back, he felt a rush of embarrassment. How can this little kid be better than me?!
Looking down into the bag, James watched the little fish swim around. The star marking was rather intriguing, but, of course, there was nothing special about it. After all, a fish is a fish... right?
James kept the fish close to his chest, wanting to be careful with it. Without saying anything to Eleanor, he started walking back towards the carnival entrance. Once again, he waved for Eleanor to follow. He didn't exactly want to see Leah around, and intended to get out of the festival as soon as he could. And, now that they were partners, there was the debate of where they were going to live. Partners lived together. At least James thought they did.
After bringing the bag down to his side, James looked over to Eleanor. "So," he started, "what now? I can't exactly stay here much longer." He glanced over his shoulder for a moment. "There's someone here who I don't exactly want to run into again." He winked, "She'd get all teary-eyed, seeing you with me." Brushing his blonde hair out of his face, which was apparently a habit, he said, "But... who wouldn't want to be with me?"

Eleanor dropped her arm by her side, letting them hang there. "I only wanted to you to play so you would lose again, idiot." she muttered at the last word, not wanting to hear his defensive shouts. "And... Since we're gonna be living together from now on, it's your pet, too!" he chided in. Eleanor's head snapped up a bit, completely forgetting about that tiny detail. There was no way they were going to be able to live inside El's apartment. Only one bedroom, something of a living room, a tiny kitchen and a small bathroom. It's not like her things were already crammed into the small apartment enough, but with James moving in? Not going to happen. "Aren't you excited?" he swooped in close to her. She pushed her arm out beside her, that was most likely going to hit him in his face. "Yes, I'm just shivering in my boots on how happy I am that I get to live with you." she bit out. "And yes, I will have to move in with you. My apartment is too small for the both of us. And if you plan on keeping that fish, the three of us, I guess." she shoved her hands into her pockets. Why did it always get so cold here at night? It was the desert, for Death's sakes! She strolled her way over to James, staring at the fish. She knew it that it would be ignored by the two. She thought it was a stupid idea keeping it; it was going to die sooner or later, most likely by forgetting to feed it or clean its tank. Eleanor looked up at James when he started to talk "What now? I can't exactly stay here much longer." Eleanor tilted her head in slight confusion. "There's someone here who I don't exactly want to run into again." her first thoughts were that James was associated with the mafia. Until he winked. That thought was dropped quickly, because if you're being threatened by mobsters, you sure as hell don't wink. "She'd get all teary-eyed, seeing you with me. But... who wouldn't want to be with me?" Eleanor shoved him again. "You're an ass, James." she scoffed at him. Sure, Eleanor wasn't the nicest to people. But at least she didn't go around toying with people's hearts. And she didn't want to answer that question; his pride was hurt enough this night. "But I guess we stop by my place and pick up my things. I don't have much, really." she lied. Eleanor had many things, ranging from her future musical career to everyday things. But she wanted to get everything done tonight, and it's not like you can order a truck to pick up your things. The streets are too narrow to drive any big vehicle. They would find a way eventually. "Hey..." she nudged him. "If we're keeping this thing, what are you going to name it?" --- Word Count: 493 Notes: It's 3 am. And I can't sleep. .-. Music: So What- P!nk

The fish's plastic bag flew through the air and a different pair of hands wrapped around it. It was a short move, but it made the goldfish think she was going to be dropped to the ground and splattered on the pavement. That would've spelled 'D-E-A-T-H' for the fish. No true fish could survive without water. Dolphins and whales didn't count half of the time because they were technically mammals. This fish, was not a mammal. She was born in water. She lived in water. She breathed water. She was a goldfish.
The humans continued talking. The human that she had been handed to sure liked to move her around. If she could get nauseous, she would have. Didn't these people have any concern for her safety? If they shook the bag too much, she would die.
Humans, the little fish decided, were not fish in any way, shape, or form. Fish didn't talk. Fish didn't touch unless they absolutely had to. Fish swam; humans walked or ran. There were certain fish that traveled in schools, but humans traveled in groups all the time. Humans were loud; fish were silent. Humans could live to be a hundred years old. Goldfish only lived as long as their caretakers would allow. She wondered how long she would survive in the care of these two. Probably not long if this guy didn't put her in a fishbowl soon. The sidewalk was closer now than it was before. If the fish could sigh, she would have.
More importantly, she was hungry. But the humans probably weren't going to feed her anything as long as she was in the plastic bag. The fish then decided that she didn't like being in a plastic bag. She wanted food and she wanted to stop moving, but she wasn't in control of that. Sometimes, she wished she weren't so powerless.
